Grace Butler

ARTICLING STUDENT

Grace Butler

Grace Butler is from Fall River, Nova Scotia, but she has a lot of family in Newfoundland. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration from Acadia University in 2019, and her Juris Doctor from Dalhousie University in 2022. She joined Gittens & Associates in May 2022 as an Articling Student and will be Called to the Bar on June 16, 2023.

Grace has an avid interest in criminal law, as she received a Certificate of Criminal Justice with her JD and has worked as a Research Assistant throughout law school. Such research would include various issues in prison law, such as the use of Administrative Segregation in Federal Prisons, and the legislation concerning sexual offences in Canada. Grace has utilized her research in the latter issues while serving as Co-Coordinator of the Consent Project, a Dalhousie Pro Bono initiative that teaches high school students about sexual consent. Grace hopes to focus her practice on criminal and family matters.

Outside of work, Grace enjoys physical fitness and the outdoors, visiting family and friends, and getting involved with the theatre/acting community in St. John’s.
